Argentina
My time spent living in Buenos Aires and working as a photojournalist for a local newspaper there remains as one of my most cherished life experiences. The riverside city of Buenos Aires is a very special blend of Latin American culture within the framework of a cosmopolitan, European-like city. The Porteños (people from Buenos Aires), carry themselves with enviable finesse, echoed so perfectly in their seductive national dance, the Tango, and in their indulgent diet of superior quality red meat and red wine. They appear to live like kings yet they laugh and love and cry as unassumingly as the next poor nation. This defining characteristic of the Argentine people is perhaps best explained by the state of affliction in which the country remains, owing to the painful events of its history, which only came to end as recently as the 1980's. This façade of wealth and pleasure is but a mask for the greif and struggle that Argentines continue to bear in their efforts to overcome the wrongdoings of the past, whilst there is still time enough for justice of sorts to be had.
